Everyone arrived yesterday afternoon, safe and sound. Last night we had a huge dinner and just vegged for the rest of the evening. Today is haircut day, and we’ll go out for a bite to eat tonight. Fun! Talk to ya’ll later.
Houseguests on Their Way
Beth came over last night for dinner, to drink wine, look at our old yearbook (it is extremely disconcerting to go through your high school yearbook and realize how many people have already died), eat homemade burritos, and pretty much assist me in my kickoff of what will more than likely be a five-day bender. It was splendid.
RIP Dave Cockrum
Comic book illustrator Dave Cockrum (X-Men) died over the weekend. He passed away in his favorite chair, wearing his Superman pajamas. How sweet is that? RIP.
HOA Surrenders on Peace Wreath

Christian Coalition Prez-Elect Quits
The Christian Coalition president-elect has declined the position, claiming that the organization would not let him focus on anything other than opposing abortion and gay rights. Good for him.
The Torontoist Cover Song Catalogue
The Torontoist has a piece about my favorite thing – cover songs. It’s a fun list, limited to recorded songs only, and many of them are on the mellow side, no matter what the original sounded like. A highlight is Dave Werner’s “Straight Up,” as well as The Postal Service’s “Against All Odds.” [via]
