Horror Film Festival
Saturday night we went to the Nickelodeon Nights horror film fest in Lambertville. We helped out, drank some good beer and watched The Bride of Frankenstein. I also took a couple of pictures.
Fonts Andrew Would Like To See
The Other Andrew posted this quick entry yesterday and every time I think about it, I crack up. For some reason it just smacked my funnybone.

Wine Advice?

A LITTLE VINO WOULD BE KEEN-O! Chuck was asking if I could do a post about wine. Of course I can! More specifically, your favorite bottles that are $10 and under. Tell us your old standbys, your new favorites, wine you’ve heard about and have been wanting to try. As long as it’s in that $10 range, anything goes.
oh my god, my allergies
I am in the midst of an allergy attack so miserable that I’m having trouble focusing my eyes or thinking in any sort of logical manner. I do believe it’s time for me to retire to the couch for the remainder of the day. And yes, Geekboy, I took a pill. Not working. Waaaah.
Two Thumbs Up for Torture!

Tell the New Jersey Legislature to Support Marriage Equality
Yesterday’s decision about marital rights for gays here in Jersey was a victory, but there is still much work to be done. Please contact the NJ Legislature and tell them you support marriage equality. Find your legislator here.

Ted Leo/Death Cab for Cutie

Last night’s Death Cab for Cutie show was excellent. The tour launches today, so Death Cab’s Ben was a little rusty on the lyrics, which was actually more charming than anything else. It was amusing to hear him scream “FUCK!” in the middle of a moving rendition of Transatlanticism. In between acts, while we were waiting for them to come out, Lisa impatiently cried, “Bring out the nerds!” and after watching them spaz around on stage…yep. Good times. However, the high point of the evening for us, just like Chuck promised, was Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. Loud, political, funny…sometimes I was reminded of Joe Jackson, sometimes The Clash, and I loved every minute of the performance. Here’s some music for you because I’m still in a good mood.

NJ Supports Civil Unions, Not Gay Marriage
Today, the NJ Supreme Court ruled that gay couples have the same marriage rights as heterosexual couples under the New Jersey state constitution. This is a big boost, as it will extend legal benefits for couples that were currently unavailable under the domestic partnership law. However, the court wouldn’t take the next logical step and just call it “gay marriage.” If I understand correctly, they’re saying that denying any NJ citizen the legal rights that come along with marriage is indeed discriminatory, but the majority ruled that gays still can’t be “married.” It’s hard to not angrily shake my fist and wonder why the word “marriage” is so sacred. Why can’t everyone have that word? I don’t understand.
