Holiday Weekend

Today is the start of a holiday weekend here in the US – Memorial Day. The geekboy gets today AND Monday off, so I think I will also close up shop early around here. Perhaps we will catch a matinee of X-Men 3. We have two BBQs this weekend, and the weather looks to be absolutely gorgeous. I’ve got brand-new sunscreen and a brand-new cute green dress. I AM READY!

Desmond Dekker RIP

Desmond Dekker has died. If you were into ska, you know who he was. RIP, and thanks. I feel like we’re losing a lot of the musical icons from our youth lately.

Youth Today

Last night we watched the Lost finale (go over to TMFT to discuss) over at the Greater Czarina’s house. We watched American Idol with the Czarinette before she went to bed, and when it came time to finally go to bed and let the adults watch their show, she was dismayed to realize that she would not know who won. So, being a child raised in an era of overwhelming technology, she asked if she could just fast-forward the DVR so she could see if Soul Patrol or McPheever would emerge victorious. GC explained to her that we were watching AI in “real time,” a concept which needed to be explained several times before it sunk in. She really believed that she could fast-forward through the fabric of time and space in order to find out who won American Idol. I loved it.
