So, by the time you read this post that I’ve written from the future (as I post, it is Tuesday night), we should be on our way to Canada. We’re so excited for this mini-vacation! I will try to post some cameraphone snaps as we travel – the phone tends to be spotty when emailing, though, so I’m not making any promises. I’ll miss you all – sob – and should be back home by Monday. Anyway, here is the flickr page where you can keep up with us.

The best part about this article is where the author, in the second paragraph, writes, “…in a presumed metaphorical sense.” I enjoy when even the news gets in on the snark.

Congratulations on your first anniversary, Iraq! “What changed since the transfer of sovereignty? Terrorism, killings and bombings became widespread,” said civil servant Luai Hadi, 34. “There is no water, services and no power.” Let freedom reign, indeed.

My darling husband just got back from Costco and handed me some surprises. Paul Anka, Donnie Darko, and Edward Scissorhands. He’s the best.

One of my daily reads, Uncle Bob, got fired because of his blog. Oops. Apparently he’s already gotten himself a new job, though, so best of luck!

I am so tired today. Sleepy, fuzzy, down-to-my-very-soul exhausted. It was a busy weekend, like I posted earlier, and I’ve been battling sleep and headache problems for the past week (although yesterday was my first non-headache day in a while, yay!). Additionally, I get very stressed out before I go on vacation, for no discernable reason. If I haven’t mentioned it fifty times already, we are leaving on Wednesday morning (early!) to take the Toyota to Canada so it can visit Maggie and Remy’s car. We plan to have a very laid-back time in their new home, meet some new friends, and hopefully fill up my purse with cheap Canadian allergy medicine. If I don’t pass out cold as soon as I hit the passenger seat, I plan on utilizing my craptastic cameraphone during the drive. I have a Flickr account now that seems to work, so I will try to upload some photos from the road. I’ll post the URL before we leave.

Happy Monday. Our weekend was hectic, but quite fun. Friday evening Lisa and Janet came over for gin and tonics, sweetie, on the porch. Gossip, snarking, and our own personal renditions of the Beetlejuice Song abounded. Saturday afternoon, a whole gang of us caught the Batman matinee, which was as good as I had hoped the movie to be. Christian Bale makes me sweaty. After the movie, everyone converged on our place for an impromptu barbeque. It was a lovely night, with great company, multiple beers, and fireflies blinking around.
