And hell, while we’re all getting angry today, why not check out this story about Microsoft and Ralph Reed?

Two stories today that won’t be good for your rage: The Abu Ghraib scandal was an entire year ago. It doesn’t seem that long, does it? And the Army has cleared the higher-ups of any wrongdoing. Not like that’s much of a shocker. So much for accountability.

I made this poncho over the weekend for my friend’s one-year-old daughter (pattern resized from yarn harlot with i-cord and poms suggested by maggie). I don’t have a picture of her wearing it (and the one I took here is kind of assy), but it looked very cute and she thought the little pom-poms were only the greatest thing to ever happen to her.

Bike New York is on Sunday and we are sooooo not ready. I’m actually in decent shape; it’s just that it’s been so cold the past few days that I can’t fathom having to get on a bike and ride into the wind. It’s 42 miles (actually 45 if you count the ride back to the car, AND WE DO), but it’s mostly flat and there are rest stops about every 10 miles or so. As long as the people around you are being polite cyclists, it’s pleasant and you can even chat while you’re riding and enjoy the NYC sights. The worst part, though, is the Verrazano Bridge, which is at the very end of the tour, and you spend most of the ride dreading that stupid incline. We have decided as a group that if it’s raining on Sunday, we’re going to just skip it. I’ve done this thing three times already, I’m an old fart, and I finally realized that I don’t HAVE to ride my bike in the rain if I don’t want to. How refreshing. Anyway, look for a lot more whining during the rest of the week, and then constant complaining about my ass pain on Monday morning.

Email makes you stupid. Luckily, television makes you smart! Considering my day is basically 50% email and 50% television, I figure I’m balancing on that razor-sharp edge between pretentious snob and drooling idiot.

Have bumperstickers gone the way of the eight-track tape? What’s on your bumper? Mine has a Kerry/Edwards sticker and one with a quote from Einstein. And on the side, yes, one of those magnets, but mine says “Support Peace.” [via metafilter]
