I just braved the cold and ran out to Bed Bath & Beyond to pick up one last Christmas gift. Also, I realized I’ve become a housewife when I spent a chunk of change on 12 cloth napkins to match my holiday place settings. My god. I stopped at Starbucks to pick up some ground coffee, and can we just discuss the TRAGEDY of running out of peppermint syrup? How am I supposed to enjoy the greatest drink on earth – the Starbucks Peppermint Mocha – with no syrup? Grrr. So, here I sit, drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte instead. I don’t know why I picked that. I panicked. Ah, well.

Did you have a good weekend? Mine started off good and ended up crap. Friday night the geekboy and I watched the remake of Dawn of the Dead, which was really good and scared me silly. Saturday we volunteered at a shelter fundraiser where people could get their pets photo taken with Santa. Hilarious. We made a TON of money, and it was really nice to see former “orphans” from the shelter coming in with their new families. Saturday evening was another holiday party, and we went along with Janet and Lisa and had a great time.

I had a few glasses of wine, and woke up on Sunday morning with a full-blown migraine. Because it was a party, there were different kinds of red wine there, and I think that’s what did it. I had some cheese, too. It is the worst kind of frustration because red wine doesn’t always give them to me, but I guess I played russian roulette with my head and my head lost. I may have to look into giving up red wine completely for a while, unless I can be careful enough to always stay with the same brand and never mix it with certain types of food. Ugh. Anyway, I literally could not get out of bed all day yesterday, and the headache didn’t truly go away until about 11:00pm last night. You might remember that I had tickets to see the Scissor Sisters. Obviously I didn’t go; I didn’t feel strong enough and I was afraid my head might pop off or something and I didn’t want to scare all the cute gay boys that no doubt were there. So, I gave my ticket to Janet and Lisa, and sadly waved goodbye as they went without me. I’m still heartbroken about it today. The geekboy wants me to see a doctor about the headaches…I need to get a physical in the new year anyway, so hopefully there are some better meds out than the last time I tried.

Weird Techie Question: I’ve noticed for the past few weeks, if I leave Microsoft Outlook open for more than an hour or so, when I try to click on a new message in the windowpane, the active window will open up BEHIND the Outlook main window and I can’t get to it unless I close and re-open the program. I’ve done the latest Office update and cannot figure out how to make this stop. Is anyone out there aware of this issue? Please do not try and “help” by telling me I shouldn’t be using Outlook, Windows, or whatever other nerd critique you might have about my operating system. Cheers!

No posts until later, kids. I’m off to babysit my friend’s daughter while she goes grocery shopping in peace. I’m half-sure that she’ll actually never come back. Kidding. I’ll be home sometime in the afternoon and once I’m here, I’m hoping to color my hair. I still have henna lying around, so I might as well make my head look festive for the holidaze. Not much else is going on, so you’ll just have to amuse yourselves for a while. How about we use the comments today to talk about christmas cookies? Share your favorite recipe or tips.
