Last night I tried to watch the MTV VMAs for you. I did. But, about halfway through, I just had to turn it off. Maybe I’m old, maybe I’m square. But I DON’T. GET. IT. I don’t get this hip-hop shit with 50 people up on stage. I don’t get how someone can be nominated for an award when all they did was scream “YEAH” in the background. I don’t get Usher, I don’t know who Kanye West is, but I do know Chaka Khan and I bet I was the only person watching that show who did. I don’t understand why the show is no longer a celebration of videos. They gave away “Breakthrough Video” in passing on the red carpet. Remember when that was THE video award to win? Now they don’t even care. I don’t understand why Bruce Willis is hanging out with P. Diddy, but I wish he would stop it. I don’t understand why anyone cares about Justin Timberlake, I don’t understand why they invited John Kerry’s daughters there only to have them booed. And I really, REALLY, don’t understand why I sat through Jessica Simpson screaming out a song that I guess was supposed to be “Angels” and didn’t kill myself right then and there.

My sister gets here today! My sister gets here today! Yay. I’ll be off to the airport sometime after lunch with my dad. The wedding is about 9 days away. Yeep! The weather outlook seems okay right now…please stay sunny, world. I still have details to look after (I haven’t picked up my marriage license yet, although it’s waiting for me), but things are fine. I’ll give the caterer the final headcount today and see how much blood I’ll have to sell to pay for this shindig. Ah, it will be worth it. As the family trickles into town and we have to make more and more commitments to see people (which, honestly, we are thrilled to do), the geekboy and I are frothing at the mouth in anticipation of our honeymoon.
