The geekboy is off to see Spiderman 2 and I’m here all alone, thinking about working out. Ugh. I’m glad he’s seeing the movie tonight, as the last few weeks around here have been an obnoxious blur of him dancing around the house singing, “Spiderman, Spiderman! Spiderman, Spiderman!” It’s reminiscent of the Spiderman Dance from Coupling, actually, if you saw that episode. Anyhoo…Maggie and Jeremy are on their way to Jersey at this very moment, slated to arrive here around midnight if they drive straight through. So posting may be sporadic through the next few days.

The meeting with the caterer went well. The geekboy actually got home from his commute early, so I called the guy and said we could come even earlier. He was thrilled. We picked the linens for the tables (not like I’m obsessed with that stuff, but it has to be done, and we picked something nice and clean-looking, appropriate for a garden wedding), fine-tuned the menu, and picked our hors d’oeurves (how the HELL do you spell that)? And you know what? We picked “franks in a blanket” because we are total white trash and we also know that everyone there (the non-veggies, anyway) will eat them because, face it, food snobs, they’re good. We also picked some other ones that looked delish. I swapped out the caesar salad with a tomato/mozzarella salad instead…the caterer pointed out that now I won’t be offering any sort of green leafy salad. In my one selfish moment of this whole thing, I said, “Well, I don’t really LIKE leafy salads; I like vegetable-type salads,” and that was the end of that. Am I being rude? You know what? I can’t believe I just wrote an entire post about the food at our wedding. Shutting up now.

Late this afternoon the geekboy and I are meeting with the caterer to nail down some details. The caterer (a very nice guy) called me this morning to, and I quote, “confirm our appointment and ask if we can reschedule it.” After my brain untangled itself, I said, “um.” He explained that his son is in some sports tournament and he doesn’t want to miss it by working late, etc. etc. I told him that I understood, but that it’s tough to get the geekboy out of work early and did he have any evening appointments? He said the only day he could meet us late was Thursday, which is out of the question since we’re having visitors arrive. I told him I was sorry, but I wanted to keep the appointment, but I would be glad to move it up an hour earlier. He said that was fine and that he’d see us tonight. Now. I am sitting here wallowing in enormous guilt that his son is going to hate him forever and it’s all my fault.
