Congratulations, FreakMom

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 08:00am

Tonight is FreakMom’s retirement dinner. My mom has worked in our local school district since I was in grade school. She works mostly with kids with special needs, and is beloved by every student and teacher that have ever worked with her. It’s not uncommon for my mom to run into now-adult former students in town, and they are always delighted to see her. I’m so glad she can finally take some time for herself, as she’s spent most of her life taking care of other people. I don’t know how the school will get along without her, but I also know there are some little blonde girls down in Florida who are anxiously awaiting Grammy and Pop-Pop for an extended vacation.

Congratulations! Freakmom is beloved with us, too.

Retirement is great once you get used to it. At first my mom felt at complete loose ends but now she’s enjoying and looks healthier and happier than ever before. #
