I don’t know if I’ve ever pointed you guys toward the Photoshop Disasters blog before, but it’s a fun site.
Science tattoos on scientists. Very cool stuff. [via]
Anything fun planned for this weekend? Aside from laundry, working out (after my long break) and catching up on the TiVo backlog, I’m going to see Spring Awakening with some friends. Cannot wait.
Hey all, I’m home from Florida, safe and sound! The trip back was extremely turbulent and therefore a bit unsettling, but I got to catch a couple episodes of Ace of Cakes, so I’m all good. I already miss the Florida weather, though. Spring, please!
Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day, as I’m on a deadline, so I probably won’t get to post my photos until the weekend or Monday. Now I’m off to snuggle with the geekboy and the cats (maybe not in that order, heh heh).
Thanks for the great vacation, FreakSis!
Hey peeps, still in Florida! Freakniece #1 and I just got back from seeing Horton Hears a Who, which was really quite fun. I usually can’t stand Jim Carey and his manic scenery-chewing, but he did a great job. And I could listen to Will Arnett’s voice all day. Yesterday my sister and I brought the girls to Sarasota Jungle Gardens, where we met some flamingos and looked at monkeys and alligators and turtles. I took a ton of photos. Tonight, if the weather holds, we’ll try to have dinner on the beach and watch the sunset. For now, I actually don’t feel very well and am going to try and relax a bit (for as long as Freakniece #1 will let me, anyway). Miss you!
I went shopping yesterday with my mom, who treated me to some very cute new cargo shorts and some cropped pants. I know that the What Not To Wear people say that short women shouldn’t wear cropped pants, but they can suck it. I like them. I also picked up this adorable dress at Target. No idea why they cut off the model’s head, unless it’s an homage to Britney on South Park? Also grabbed some new makeup as well - has anyone used the Sonia Kashuk brand before? I adore the packaging, the way it all screws together into one piece!
Last night I dyed my hair, too. The color is nice but I think I’m ready to go a little lighter next time. I used this color but obviously it goes on darker on brown hair.
I don’t know why I just told you all that, but there you go.
Explain this, please. [via]
I leave for Florida early Friday morning. I have a ton to do before then, and I don’t know how I’m going to get it all done. I haven’t even started pulling out summer clothes to try on yet…hopefully they still fit. Oh god, what if they don’t fit?
Remember back when we first got HBO in the 80s? And before every movie they played a little intro? Here’s a video of the making of that intro. Really supercool to see how they put it together, in the pre-CGI age. Read the rest of this entry »

Happy Easter! Enjoy your Sunday. Whether it’s spent celebrating or whether it’s just a regular day - have a chocolate bunny. Jesus would have wanted it that way.
I’m going to be off-site all day today, so here’s a little something for discussion.
I am currently writing an article for a freelance gig. In search of an alternative to the word “information,” which I believe I have used about 575 times in three pages, I consulted my favorite resource, thesaurus.com. Its list of suggestions included the term “hot poop.”
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Anyone have big plans tonight?
I’m making a shepherd’s pie, with green cupcakes for dessert. The fridge is stocked with Harp and Guinness, and Lisa is coming over for dinner. Mellow, but fun. Perhaps we’ll pop into the Irish bar down the road later on.
I’ve got a busy day today; no time for posting. Feel free to chat or post fun links in this open thread, though. Ciao!
Remember two years ago, we did a post about Celebrities Who Probably Smell Bad? And then last November, we saw a similar article on another website? Well, guess what? [thanks to camille for alerting me]
Today’s another busy day for me, so let’s go to the old standby: Hey baby, what are you wearing? I’m boring but cute today in jeans, a green v-neck sweater with striped oxford underneath, and brown loafers. And I’m even having a good hair day! How about you?
I just booked a trip to Florida for six days at the end of March. I’m very excited about freaknieces and family and sun and a cold beer every night at 5:00pm with my brother-in-law. However, I also feel depressed and melancholy and I don’t know what else. Whenever I spend money I feel terribly guilty about it, I feel like I’m leaving the geekboy behind while I go on vacation, I feel like I get in the way at my sister’s house, I feel I I I me me me me I I me.
Seriously. WTF.
Starbucks will temporarily close all its stores today from 5:30pm to 8:30pm for barista training or some such shit. Just thought I’d let you know. I actually have a client meeting at Starbucks later today. Should I pick up my douchebag trophy now or will it be mailed?
I must have watched this five times over the weekend, and it never fails to delight. Read the rest of this entry »
So, what are your plans this weekend? New Jersey has finally gotten snow…there are a few inches on the ground and it looks like it will continue for a while. After that we’re supposed to get freezing rain, so that should be fun. Blarg. I will enjoy it while it lasts. Sunday is Oscar Night, and I’ll be having my annual small get-together. There will be vodka-based drinks, there will be contests and games, there will be cupcakes. There will not be blood.
And you?
And now I am exhausted. You know it’s time for a haircut when you walk into the salon and your hairdresser looks at you and says, “Oh my god, I hate your hair.” Hey, that’s cool, I hate it too. Heh. She chopped off a bunch and now I’m back home, minus an earring. It’s back at the salon but I’m too lazy to go get it. I’ll post a photo after I take a shower and look human. Which could be several days from now.
As you know, last night we had a lunar eclipse. The geekboy went outside and took a couple photos, just for fun. Read the rest of this entry »
This week on Howard Stern, they’re playing old favorites. Right now Rodney Dangerfield is on, plugging a movie, and his appearance has led my mind back eleven years.
It’s 1997. I’m at the movie theater in Morristown NJ, waiting in line with Justin. The line is ridiculously long and we are likely ridiculously “enhanced.” We are waiting in line to see the re-release of The Empire Strikes Back, and have sent an envoy up to the front of the line to see if we’re wasting our time trying to get in. We wait for what seems like forever, and our envoy, Chuck, returns, yelling, “So, ARE YA’LL READY TO MEET WALLY SPARKS?”
