So, we should be well on our way to Florida by the time you read this. We’ll be gone for a week — first visiting the Geek Mom & Dad, then off to visit FreakSis and her family. I’m quite looking forward to a week where I don’t have to write about crab fishing or snake bites or jamming your hand down a catfish’s throat (stay tuned!). I want sun, I want sleep, I want two little blonde girls fighting over me. Send us some good weather vibes. I’ll blog if I can…you can also follow me on Twitter, if that’s what you’re into.

Getting a haircut and color today. Much needed! I’m thinking about asking her to cut it a lot shorter in back, but leave it longer in the front. Like a reverse mullet. Heh. We leave for Florida one week from today, for a whirlwind vacation that will have us spending half the week with the Geek-in-Laws, and the other half with FreakSis and family. We’re looking forward to some poolside fun in the sun. We’ll be celebrating Freakniece #1’s birthday — can you believe she just started the second grade? And has lost two teeth? I can’t take it.

Looks like we’ve hit the dog days of summer here at freakgirl dot com. I’m not finding many interesting things to post about, people are on vacation, energy levels are low. I figure things will pick up eventually. I’ve been spending most of my time writing my articles for HSW and trying to find other supplemental gigs. The geekboy and I are going to Florida in a few weeks to visit our families and hang with the kids. See? Nothing really interesting to report. Oh, last night I made fried okra for the first time, and spent the rest of the evening kicking myself for waiting so long to try it. Snacky crispy deliciousness!

Up to anything good this weekend? I know Jason will be celebrating his birthday, so wish him well! Tonight I think we’re just going to relax and try to recover from last night’s show…I might make another zucchini bread, yum. Tomorrow we plan to see Young @ Heart at a local movie venue, and perhaps grab a beer afterward with friends. Then Sunday, we’re doing the whole Big Rock Show Thing again, when we go see The Police along with Elvis Costello & The Imposters. Please send out some good vibes that no trucks flip over on the Garden State Parkway, kthx. I’m exhausted.
