Death Comes in Threes

Monday, June 29, 2009 at 08:04am

We saw it last week with the deaths of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. And then Matt Lauer said on the Today show that not only do celebrities die in threes, but death comes like this — elderly, expected and sudden. Which works for last week.

Yesterday, OxiClean screaming man Billy Mays died suddenly at age 50. So there should be two more out there, right? Elderly and expected. Perusing CNN this morning, I saw that there were two more (albeit less currently famous) celebrity deaths. Gale Storm passed away at age 87 (elderly) and comedian Fred Travalena died of cancer at age 66 (expected). So, please, universe, let this week go by quietly, okay? And RIP, all of them.

Dear Marilyn Manson, Get Help.

Friday, June 26, 2009 at 10:01am

I didn’t want people to ask me every time I did an interview, “Oh, is this record about your relationship with your ex-girlfriend?” But that damage is part of it, and the song “I Want to Kill You Like They Do in The Movies” is about my fantasies. I have fantasies every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer.

The Hangover

Monday, June 22, 2009 at 09:36am

We saw The Hangover yesterday. Oh my god. I have to say, when I heard about the flick, I figured it would be funny, but what’s new and different about a bachelor party movie set in Vegas? Glad to find out I was wrong. This movie was RELENTLESSLY hilarious. Extended trailer after the jump if you want to relive the fun. Read the rest of this entry »

The LAT Girls’ Guide to Comic Con 2009 is sad and a little insulting. OMGZ! Jake Gyllenhaal and Twilight and Brad Pitt LOL! As has been stated elsewhere — NEWSFLASH! Some girls are actually into genre comics and sci-fi, just like boys. Blarg.

Nurse Jackie Premiere

Wednesday, June 03, 2009 at 08:37am

nurse-jackie-ticket

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to Showtime’s Nurse Jackie premiere party. I’ve been looking forward to the show since we first heard about it, so I was really psyched. I dragged Lisa along as my plus one, and we had the BEST TIME. I’ll get this out of the way right now — they screened the first two episodes and we loved them. Edie Falco is fantastic, and the show dives deep into the very dark comedy that Showtime really excels at lately. You can watch the first episode online right now, and the show premieres on Monday, after Weeds. After the jump, I unabashedly dish about the party. Read the rest of this entry »

Celebrity Pornhab

Tuesday, June 02, 2009 at 09:06am

Glad to see that whole rehab/getting out of porn thing worked for Mary Carey. Oh well. I have to say, though, the trailer for this flick made me laugh out loud. There’s no nudity in the trailer, but the language is extremely NSFW. Enjoy. Read the rest of this entry »

MTV Movie Awards

Monday, June 01, 2009 at 09:19am

I didn’t really get a chance to watch this, as I went to bed early last night. But I had the show on when I fell asleep, and I remember waking up because my brain heard Chris Isaak. Then I fell back asleep, not realizing Mr. Isaak was part of a bizarre medley of Andy Samberg/Lonely Island songs. Read the rest of this entry »

Skunk of Love

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 08:32am

I’ve been watching VH1’s Daisy of Love, because apparently I have nothing better to do. It’s a spin-off of Rock of Love; she’s one of Bret Michaels’ castoffs and strongly resembles a Muppet. The show is rather hilarious, due to the fact that they cast it well, full of violent meatheads and sexually ambiguous, brain-damaged pretty boys. And Daisy is so personality-free that at least three men have quit the show already. She hasn’t actually eliminated anyone since like the second episode. Dudes are just leaving on their own. But that’s neither here nor there. Read the rest of this entry »

How Sesame Street Changed the World

Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 02:27pm

…Yet it’s only rated #15 among kids shows. Thanks a lot, SpongeBob. You may not have taught me to count in Spanish, or learn about people different than myself, or given me the skills to cope with grief, or remember the stick of butter, loaf of bread and a container of milk, but you’ve certainly taught me it’s funny to fart and berate people. Although I suppose there’s a place for that in my life, too. via tv tattle
