I quit smoking one year ago today. A whole year!
The geekboy came home from work yesterday and brought in the mail. Included was a big box from Amazon. I opened it up and found: Read the rest of this entry »
There’s a DVD giveaway going on over at Too Much Free Time!
Earlier this week, we volunteers at the animal shelter got an alarming email telling us that our shelter dog, Maggie (heh), had suddenly fallen ill and was taken to the vet for a surgery. Maggie is a big, fuzzy, adorable and friendly girl who lives at the shelter and regularly basks in love from everyone that meets her. When you see her happy face, you can’t help but fall to the floor and throw your arms around her. I’ve been anxious all week, preparing for bad news every time I received an email from the volunteer group with her status. I’m happy to report that Maggie got to go “home” to the shelter today and so far is feeling fine. Hooray! I love good news on a Friday.
Congratulations to the writers, the strike is over and everyone can go back to work. Here’s a list of what you can expect from your favorite shows. I didn’t realize until last night, watching a repeat on TBS, how much I miss The Office.
If this comes to fruition, I will get in line a week early and I expect all you bitches to join me. [thanks, jeremy!]
R.E.M. is going to tour with Modest Mouse. The thought of Michael Stipe and Johnny Marr potentially on stage together kind of makes me want to hug myself.
I’m feeling much better today; I slept well (thanks, percocet!) and slept in late. My back is still stiff but I’ve regained a lot of mobility. Having meds on hand from last time really helped, I think, along with immediately icing my back. It gave me a head start on treatment, whereas last time I think it was almost 36 hours before I saw a doctor. So, fingers crossed, I’m over the worst of it.
My Reasons To Be Thankful Today: Later on this afternoon, I’m going to meet with my friend Matt at his office and hopefully pave the way for some small freelance projects. Meeting at his office means I have to put on real clothes; i.e., pants that don’t have an elastic waistband and something other than a tattered bra and men’s v-neck tee shirt. Last time Kohl’s had a sale, I picked up a few button-down shirts for such an occasion (although I really need some of these, pronto), but I have an aversion to trying on pants and therefore don’t own many nice pairs. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
I just brought the kittens to the shelter to get their second worming. Good times! The staff all came to see little Posh and Becks, and oohed and aahed over how much they’ve grown and how sweet and mellow they are. It was nice…the ACO even told me, “Great job!” In ten more days we’ll find out if they’re ready to get neutered. They have both been doing well the past few days; happy and healthy - the meds are working.
While I was there, a guy came in and adopted a dog. Everyone was practically jumping up and down; turns out this dog has been living at the shelter for two years. And now it’s going to have a home for Christmas. I can’t stop smiling, thinking about it.
