Cholula Hot Sauce

Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 12:18pm

Right now, I am obsessed with Cholula hot sauce. I eat it on macaroni and cheese, and I just now doused my entire fake chicken patty with it. I want more! The past few months, I cannot get enough spicy food. Do you think it has anything to do with quitting smoking or am I just going through a phase?

Superbad

Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 09:41am

Last night we saw Superbad. LOVED IT. I wanted to watch it again, immediately. I have found my new Sixteen Candles. Thank you, Judd Apatow, for bringing me Seth Rogen and making this movie happen. Michael Cera is genius; nobody outside of Bob Newhart does awkward the way he does. Jonah Hill is gut-bustingly funny, and McLovin’ is my new idol. Some clips after the jump. Mark Ronson

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 10:11am

I am completely digging on Mark Ronson’s album Version at the moment. It’s really fun - mostly covers with an injection of horns and soul. Here’s one of the odder cuts on the album - Toxic (featuring Tiggers).

Once

Wednesday, August 01, 2007 at 11:33am

Lisa and I saw the most amazing film last night. Once is a “modern-day musical set in the streets of Dublin.” It’s also one of the most touching little movies I’ve ever seen. This review gets the feeling right - “You’re at a movie, and a song, as if by magic, breaks through the surface of the drama. Suddenly, you’re no longer sitting and watching — you’re soaring.” Michael recommended this movie to me, and I’m so glad he did! Please go see this movie. More after the jump. Life Is Good

Thursday, May 03, 2007 at 10:14am

Last night I bought myself the cutest tee-shirt. I bought this one for the geekboy. I luff my new shirt! I’d post a photo of me wearing it but, as my cold has subsided, I’ve now developed some sort of weird rash on my face. Why can’t I just have a few days without a bizarre health problem?

Love for the Library

Friday, April 27, 2007 at 09:13am

I have been really taking advantage of our local library lately. I find myself reading more, and flying through books. I stopped in there yesterday to return some and pick up a few more. I got You Don’t Love Me Yet by Jonathan Lethem and A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore. I don’t know which one to read first! To be honest, I just started White Teeth by Zadie Smith, but it hasn’t GRABBED me yet. Maybe I need to give it some more time?

Home Ec 101

Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 08:14am

I ran across the Home Ec 101 site last week (don’t remember how I got there), and it’s really fun. I’ve been reading through every post; the ladies are pretty funny and there are some pretty good tips in there, too.

GreenDimes

Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 10:30am

I just signed up our household for greendimes, a service that reduces the amount of junk mail you receive, and also plants trees on your behalf. I’m hoping it helps. I am so tired of tossing out POUNDS of junk mail every month. We recycle, but it’s a pain and it’s a waste. There is also a feature on the site where you can add in names of catalogs you’d also like to stop receiving. Yay!

13 Going on 30

Monday, January 29, 2007 at 11:19am

Can you believe that this past weekend I finally saw 13 Going on 30 for the first time? How did I manage to avoid this movie for so long? There’s no excuse. Adorable.

Dance Musical All is Love

Monday, September 25, 2006 at 08:51am

This weekend we also went to see our friend Jill perform in All is Love as part of the NY Musical Theater Festival. It was wonderful. For me, someone who knows next to nothing about dance, it was quite unexpected and engaging. The piece surprised us and we couldn’t get over how great Jill was. She got her hip replaced last year and she’s better than ever. The buzz after the show was very positive (standing o!). New Yorkers: you can still catch the last two performances this week. Tickets are only $20. Go! And tell us what you thought.

Friendly Neighbor Television

Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 02:11pm

A few years ago, freakgirl’s very own Chuck used to make short films along with a friend. Thanks to YouTube, those films are now available for all to see. They’re all quite entertaining, but I think I like Technical Knockout the best.
