Pushing Daisies returns tonight for a second season. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend giving it a chance. It’s very sweet, visually delicious, with a fantastic cast. The only word to describe it is whimsical. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen the first season; tonight’s episode will tell you everything you need to know. via tv tattle
By the way, the geekboy reviews The Force Unleashed videogame over at gagglefrak.
My mom and I found this adorable Isaac Mizrahi dress at Target the other day (it’s much cuter in person than online). My brother doesn’t know yet, but he’s giving it to me for my birthday. It’s supercute, and I got size L for loose, flowery comfort. I’m thinking of wearing it to my birthday party…bare legs and maryjanes, maybe? I think it will also look good in winter, dressed up with tights and boots.
If you’re local to NJ or PA, check out the Down and Dirty with Democracy Film Fest. Our friend Sara organized it, and the geekboy and I helped them with the website.
If your family supports Obama and you have a kid that’s still in diapers, check out what Shannon and I came up with. (Just a note, we make no profit on these.)
The geekboy bought me this tee the other day. Woo! How old am I again?
Reading about Betsey Johnson’s show at Fashion Week makes me GREEN! Cupcakes, pirates, balloons? I adore that crazy broad. Some video from the show after the jump — how great is that wedding dress at the end? Complete with handcuffs! Read the rest of this entry »
Over the weekend, we watched Michel Gondry’s The Science of Sleep. I really liked it. Gael García Bernal was excellent; the dream scenes were amazing and whimsical. It was a strange and rather scary look into what I can only imagine is what schizophrenia feels like. Also, does anyone know where I can get a Disastrology calendar? Trailer after the jump. FYI - Payless Shoes is having a buy one, get 1/2 off a second pair sale. I just bought four pairs of fall shoes for under $80. And free shipping! I’m a big fan of Payless. Honestly, with shoes, I prefer quantity over quality. Heh. My choices, if you care, after the jump. (Man, I am really scraping the bottom of the barrel for posts today.) Read the rest of this entry »
Amy Sedaris will be doing an appearance in Frederick, Maryland on November 7th. We’ll be roadtripping down as part of Lisa’s Big Birthday Weekend. If you’re in the area, why not come too?
Friend of freakgirl.com Jill aka Nerdy Bird (from Has Boobs, Reads Comics) is interviewed in this month’s Elle magazine. Congratulations, Jill!
The geekboy has outgeeked even himself. Introducing gagglefrakked, a web comic.
Can I tell you how much I love this song? I can? I do. Read the rest of this entry »

Wow. Last night was epic. We left the house at 4:00pm and arrived home close to 3:00am. Insanity. A propane tanker accident CLOSED the NJ Turnpike yesterday afternoon, causing all sorts of mayhem. A huge thanks to every one of you that emailed or called me to let me know. Beth got in touch with us first, thank goodness, because we had no idea. We were about 5 minutes from getting on the Turnpike when she called us with an alternate route. It ended up taking us a bit over two hours to get to the stadium (it’s usually a 50-minute trip).
But all was forgiven when Bruce took the stage. My friend Jon texted me from the section below us, saying, “It’s a perfect Jersey night. Not a star in the sky.” Ha! I was hoping that I would hear Rosalita last night, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d EVER get to see Bruce & The E Street Band sing Jersey Girl. I believe my last text to Beth, who was down on the floor, was “Holy crap.” Okay, Springsteen fans, I get it now.
Setlist and video can be found here.
If you missed it the first time, you can now watch Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog on Hulu. Or, watch it here after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
Not only is Spaced FINALLY coming to DVD on July 22nd, but BBC America will start re-running the entire series starting on Monday.
And you can catch a marathon on BBC America this Sunday.
Too Much Free Time has been redesigned and is open for business! Please join the fun and spread the word. We’re really proud of it.
Big Brother 10 starts on Sunday. Here’s hoping you got the bad taste of BB9 out of your mouth already. I begin every season with such hope…and I end every season with an elevated blood pressure and uncontrollable rage issues. Oh, Julie Chen, I am so your bitch.

I love him.
The Pearl Jam show was much fun. Although now I am spoiled and from today forward I will refuse to attend a show at MSG unless it’s in a luxury box. Free dinner, free booze, and a private bathroom. Even our own t-shirt vendor. I loved it. Although we were up quite high, we were center stage and could really feel the energy of the crowd. In fact, at some points we could feel it so much that we thought the stadium might implode. Read the rest of this entry »
