FREAKGIRL NEEDS YOUR HELP! Reader Genevieve and her husband are working to open a cheese shop in Durham, NC. And they need donations. In Gen’s words:

Essentially the story is that we are opening a cheese shop in Durham, NC, the first dedicated cheese shop in the area where everything is cut to order and the staff is knowledgeable about the product and all of the cheese is hand selected from farms and producers creating quality, artisanal products. My husband started working with cheese at New York’s legendary Murray’s Cheese when he was in culinary school and fell in love with it and decided to make cheese his career.

Because of the recession, the fact that we don’t have collateral, and food businesses are considered risky we were unable to get a business loan. We are seeking out other sources for loans and investment, and we are also reaching out to get donations of anything from $5 to $500.
