Rather than address any of the serious issues confronting the world, the pResidnet (who claims not to follow polls) today continued his administration’s practice of being concerned with image over action in a blatant attempt to try to lessen the damage caused to his poll numbers due to the administration’s shameful response to hurricane Katrina. The pResident just may be dumb enough to think that the American people will accept that his posing for a photo op with a hammer means anything while his administration continues the same policies of cronyism, turning a blind eye to graft, and misallocation of resources on a dishonest and barbaric foreign policy, that were the root cause of the failures behind the Katrina response to begin with. Luckily, he has the lack of morals and common decency to continue to mislead through spending hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars on domestic propaganda, and a base of nearly 30% of the population who believe he was appointed by Jesus and are more concerned if a same sex couple want a legal recognition of their love and commitment than by Abu Gharib, Guantanamo Bay, The PATRIOT act, illegal domestic spying, the Downing Street memos, an attorney General that supports torture, preemptive war, the Abramoff scandal, or the US backing out on the Nuclear nonproliferation treaty. We will in fact be lucky if we can hold onto any semblance of our republic after this complete disintegration of the system of checks and balances in a country run by a single party, in a government over run by corruption, graft and corporate cash, spurred on by an immense public relations/propaganda industry, with nearly no help from a ratings and advertising conscious media and press, and all the while an organized minority of religious zealots mix a medieval worldview together with 20th Century style ultra-nationalism in a form reminiscent of nearly every fascist state that has existed since the 1930′s.
