Sadness. My parents bought me all these books when I was little. Berenstain Bears also remind me a lot of the dentist. My dentist always had those books there. But it’s still a happy memory, even though I hated my dentist. I bit him once.

  1. Wow, blast from the past. I loved those books when I was a kid…I remember reading them over and over.

  2. That’s so sad and so strange because I just bought one of their books about 20 minutes ago when I was at the book store!

  3. Boy, that does bring me back, but I have to say that as a kid, I thought those books sucked.

  4. Never read them. But they sound like a cool family.

I went from Sam-I-am & Rupert Bear to having a “ripping good time” with Swallows & Amazons or Chronicles of Narnia. From picture books to head-buried-in-a-book full on reading.

And one dentist in my early years once started drilling before I was frozen. Talk about scarred for life. ::shiver:: I didn’t bite him, I just shook all over and sobbed.

  5. My Dad called my brother and I “Sister Bear” and “Brother Bear” when we were little.

I loved how all the other bears in the stories had actual names (like Cousin Freddie) but all the main characters were “Papa Bear”, “Mama Bear”, “Brother Bear” and “Sister Bear”. What were Papa and Mama’s names before they had kids?
