Bakerella’s Burger Cupcakes!

birthday hamburger and fries!

Are these awesome or what?!

Last week Bakerella posted an amazing cupcake idea on her blog, and I just had to try it. My godson’s 10th birthday was this past weekend, and I knew he’d love these. He sure did. Between the “burgers” and the “Night at the Museum” Wii game we gave him, the geekboy and I were the heroes of the day.

These are vanilla cupcakes cut in half, with a sliced chocolate cupcake in between. Tinted frosting gives you lettuce, ketchup and mustard. The fries are sugar cookies, with sugar sprinkled on to look like salt. The sesame seeds on top are the most fun touch, don’t you think?

They were so much work! Not difficult to make at all, just labor intensive. Luckily, the geekboy helped me out making all the fry bags and picnic trays. And then on Friday night, Lisa came over and gave me a hand with assembly. Thanks to both of you!

My friend Anthony also made a batch of brownies from Baked, and they were A-MAZING. I definitely need that book.

  4. Mine wasn’t as bloody as I like a burger to be. But all in all, not bad. ;-)

  5. Nicely done!

  6. My two year old just asked – what’s that?
Me: Well it is a cupcake that looks like a hamburger and cookies that look like french fries
    Kid: Cookie fries?
    Me: Yep.
    Kid: (signs) More! More!

I think you just blew his mind.

  7. Glad you liked them and I see you matched the typeface. Cooper Black.
