A Love Note To Balance Bar

Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10:51am

Oh, Caramel Nut Blast Balance Bar, having you in my life is like getting to eat a Snickers bar every day. I heart everything about you. You are a perfect breakfast, a superb pre-workout snack, and just having you in my life has made me a better person. If I could, Balance Bar, I would take you out behind the middle school and get you pregnant.

It’s similar to a Snickers? Since I’m totally cranky and uncomfortable at this stage in my pregnancy, I try to calm myself by saying at least I can eat anything I want, guilt free, and have been LOVING Snickers bars lately. In fact, I’m doing everything in my power to not go downstairs to the store and get one, since I know we’re having cake in an hour here. But to find a healthier substitute for a Snickers, that tastes as good…

FG, what is the carb count on those please? I’m always looking for stuff like that but I have to limit my carbs due to prediabetes.

(the losing of all this weight better help with that crap though, rant over)

Never mind, I was the dork that didn’t even follow the link at first. Sorry about that. I am going to have add those to my shopping list.

Kimberly, go to the link I posted and near the bottom of the screen there is a link to “Nutrional Information.”

Let me know what you think.

Rona, I think it’s very similar to a Snickers. I mean obviously, it’s not the same, but I feel like I’m getting the same taste.

Sometimes I swear I’m your dorkier and older long lost twin, only my boo is the chocolate chip cookie dough Balance bar. My relationship with it became a little obsessive recently, but I think we’re in a better, healthier place now.

I’m glad you and your snacks have come to an understanding, Michael.

BTW, Rona, they sell the Balance Bars in bulk at Costco.

I’ll pick one up downstairs and try it out, and if I like it, I’ll back the truck up to Costco and fill ‘er up!

Have a look at the Balance bar nutritional information and then Google the Snickers info. The Balance bar is slightly smaller in serving size, so if the bars were the same size there’s only about a 30 calorie difference between the two. (Snickers is 271 calories for 57g and the Balance bar is 210 for 50g) The Balance bar is a bit better sugars wise at 32% of its weight in sugar, vs around 50% for the Snickers though.

Ok, now that I’ve pissed on your parade I’m off to kill some kittens. Buh bye.

    JERK.

I mostly eat these things for the protein boost and the sugar rush. So I’m cool w/it.

Harsh. I only have your best interests at heart.

Hey, you’re the one pissing on parades and killing kittens. I always knew the gay agenda was nefarious and cunning. #

Oh, don’t listen to him. They can fudge the numbers however they want with that crazy metric system and nobody is the wiser.

Seriously, though, the Balance bar (original) like I have for breakfast is 200 calories (vs 273 for a Snickers…36% less), it has 15 g. of protein which, like you, is the main reason I eat it (THREE TIMES the protein of a Snickers), and 22 g. of carb (vs 33 for Snickers). No comparison. It’s all about BALANCE, hence the name. 40/30/30 nutrition, baby. There’s power in it.
